Indonesia Selected Again So the UN Human Rights Council Members


New York - Indonesia was elected to the UN Human Rights Council for the period 2011-2014, the UN General Assembly at UN Headquarters in New York, May 20, 2011, at 12:00 local time. This is a membership Indonesia for the third time in the agency, since the UN Human Rights Council was formed in 2006.

Of the 191 countries that have the right to vote to determine the membership of the UN Human Rights Council, 184 of whom agreed to the participation of Indonesia.

"The election of Indonesia for the third time with the biggest voice, the international community reaffirmed its recognition of the more sturdy the process of democracy and human rights progress in the homeland," said Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa in the official release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In addition, Natalegawa said, it also reflects the appreciation of the international community and Indonesia's leadership role in advancing the agenda of Human Rights, both in the region and in international forums.

"The election of Indonesia shows the consistency of Indonesia for more than a decade continues to establish the Human Rights became part of the agenda and priorities of Indonesian foreign policy," said Natalegawa.
