For the first time since tens of millions of years ago, a giant spider hunter presents itself.
The apparition was not the physical appearance, but the results of modeling done by researchers based on 49 million year old fossils, buried deep within the dark amber color, making it difficult to see with the naked eye.
Using the method of X-ray computed tomography, researchers from Germany and England managed to reconstruct the 3-dimensional image of this ancient spiders.
"Research is very exciting and successful, so that it can be applied to other important scientific specimens, which are trapped in a dark amber," said David Penney, a researcher from the University of Manchester, was quoted by LiveScience.
At the time, animals that are members of the genus Eusparassus that live in tropical climates, in the south of Europe today. From foot to foot, their bodies can grow to over about 30 m.
Imaging results that showed the structure face spider, from the eyes, fangs, until pedipalp or sensory organs spiders near the mouth.
According to a study published in the journal Naturwissenscchaften it, the spider hunter has no aggressive behavior, and non-toxic to humans.
However, they still can cause a painful bite.
