Qatar Want to Buy Black Hawk Latest from the U.S.

Qatar has reportedly filed a request to the U.S. government to buy 12 units of multi-purpose helicopter Sikorsky UH-60M Black Hawk, which is the latest variant of the legendary heli. If approved by the U.S. government, the value of the purchase contract was about 1.1 billion U.S. dollars (USD 10.3 trillion).

So proclaimed IHS defense magazine Jane's Defence Weekly (JDW) June 20, 2012 edition. According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency U.S. (DSCA), the value of the contract in accordance with the demand that Qatar wants to buy a helicopter along with a spare machine, system of defense aid, weapons, night vision equipment, training, and technical support and other logistics.

Heli-24 helicopters will be equipped with engines that are mounted spare engines plus two types of General Electric T700-GE-701D; 15 units of missile attack warning system along AN/AAR-57V (7), 15 units of radar signal detection system AN/APR- 39A (v) 4, 26 M240H machine guns, and 26 units of night vision binoculars AN/AVS-6.

In addition, Qatar is also requesting an anti-infrared flares M206; flares AIRCM (Advanced Infrared Countermeasure Munitions) M211 and M212; and M134D Gatling machine gun-H in an amount not yet determined.

Some other items ordered include simulators, generators, helicopter transport facilities, spare parts, and various other logistical support.
