Snoring Causes Obesity?

you are on a strict diet, exercise, but the weight never went down and still overweight. Consider your sleep patterns, you may suffer from sleep apnea.
Dr Andreas Prasadja, RPSGT, sleep physician from the Sleep Disorder Clinic RS Mitra Kemayoran explains sleep apnea is a sleep disorder such as snoring. Sleep apnea can lead to obesity due to poor sleep quality that disrupt the body's metabolism.
"So despite diet, exercise, but the weight does not go down well, it could be the cause of sleep disorders. Sleep apnea is the most common but tend to be ignored," he said at a talk on the topic Sleepiness a Kill, through the launch of new premium mattress in Jakarta, Tuesday (08/05/2012).
Research in the United States in 2002 showed that one in five Americans sleep apnea patients, with 80 percent go undiagnosed because snoring is considered as normal.
In fact, snoring is often considered a characteristic sound sleep. Misperceptions about the snoring is making many people feel no need to consult the disturbing habits.
Dr Andreas explains, people with sleep apnea stop breathing while sleeping 97.85 seconds, typically he snored. People who snore while sleeping have a condition such as choking, he actually woke up but did not awake. This is what causes the sleep was interrupted, and sleep quality were worse.
"In these conditions, oxygen also decreased from 90 percent to 15 percent, heart rate soaring heart action becomes more severe," he explained.
According to Dr. Andrew, sleep apnea is characterized by snoring does not cause infected died in his sleep. But this sleep disorder raises the risk of diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disorders to strokes.
