The Afghan president's brother killed

Kandahar's half-brother of Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Ahmed Wali Karzai, was shot dead at his home on Tuesday. He was allegedly murdered by one of his bodyguards own beliefs.
According to the hospitals that handle body, the head of the Kandahar Provincial Council was shot twice, one at the head and another in the chest.

Murder motive is unknown but his death was a new blow to the efforts of U.S. and coalition forces in hunting down and crush the terror network there.
Ahmad is a controversial and highly influential figure in southern Afghanistan. His death would cause a power vacuum in Kandahar which is the birthplace of Taliban militant groups thus endangering stability in the region.

He also plays an important role in maintaining the influence of Hamid Karzai in the south so feared the reach of the power of the president is now confined there.
"My brother martyred at his home today (yesterday-Red). This is the life of the Afghan people. I hope the conditions are very vulnerable as this will end soon, "said Hamid Karzai at a news conference in Kabul, without giving further explanation.

According to a source in the intelligence service of Afghanistan, Ahmad Wali was shot dead by Sardar Mohammad, a member of his security team who had also been a presidential guard.
"Sardar Mohammed is a senior Ahmad Wali Karzai's bodyguard and a confidant. He has worked as a bodyguard for Karzai's family last ten years, "the source said.
Police immediately perform extra tight security. Security forces deployed in Kandahar and shops closed in the city center.

Many Enemies

Taliban claimed responsibility for the murder of a high level, but some observers doubt it. Years in power and sometimes apply the methods that can be cruel to make a lot of the hate Ahmad Wali Karzai.

Officials in Kabul and Kandahar would not comment on whether the killing was personal, linked to dissatisfaction or other complaints.
