Strauss-Kahn Facing Second Sex Scandal

PARIS - Opportunities Dominique Strauss-Kahn would be a presidential candidate seems to disappear after a French novelist, who described him like a "chimpanzee in love", said it would launch a criminal lawsuit for attempted rape.

The woman, Tristane Banon, a talented journalist and writer aged 32, will file a lawsuit on Tuesday (05/07/2011), the related charges of assault at an apartment in Paris in 2003. Banon stated, then, Strauss-Kahn tried to unhook her bra and opened his jeans. His lawyer, David Koubbi, said the complaint would appear at the Paris prosecutor's office on Wednesday.

The announcement comes as other reported cases of rape of a hotel maid Americans with suspected former managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that lead is not clear. Strauss-Khan has been freed from house arrest with strict security requirements by the courts of New York on Friday, amid doubts over the credibility of the victim.

Developments in New York that originally had raised hopes among his supporters that he was going back 62 years to the French political scene if released in the U.S., maybe even run for President of France next year from the Socialist camp. However, recent developments that seem to make that hope become very unlikely. Socialist Party yesterday as British media reported The Telegraph, said the idea that Strauss-Khan to run for president is a scenario "weakest" of all possible scenarios for the future of politics.

In an interview published yesterday, Banon said, he has decided to file a lawsuit after feeling "sick" watching Strauss-Kahn was released without warranty last week and ate at a restaurant in New York. He also told the details of the alleged attempted rape, which he claims occurred in February 2003 when he went to interview Strauss-Kahn, former French finance minister, in an apartment.

"When I entered the flat, I immediately felt uncomfortable," he told the magazine L'Express. "(Apertemen) was nearly empty, white, visible wooden beams, there is a coffee maker, round table, with the right of the room there is an empty library, and at the far right, there is a bedroom with a bed. We started talking , he offered me coffee, I spend a Dictaphone (tape recorder) I, he wanted us to sit on the couch, then I hold his hand to respond. I want to go home. He turned off the Dictaphone, catching my arm. I asked him to let me go, and when That battle began. "

Banon has previously provided a graphical report about the alleged attack on a television program in 2007, which is currently posted on the internet. At that, he says, Strauss-Kahn to act like a "chimpanzee in love".

He said he previously had been prevented by his mother to file a lawsuit. His mother was a member of the Socialist Party's regional council in Strauss-Kahn.

Banon lawyer said the complaint had not expired because it is still included in the limitation period of 10 years for an attempted rape charges filed.

Shortly after the arrest of Strauss-Kahn in New York, Koubbi said, Banon consider to file a lawsuit but later failed. Yesterday, Koubbi asserted, Banon's decision to file charges now will not damage the credibility of his client or make it seem opportunistic. "What happened in the U.S. is not associated with us, I repeat. If the case against Strauss-Kahn (in the U.S.) that there is no alias is empty, we have not. It is very real and complete."

Meanwhile, Strauss-Kahn's lawyer responded to recent accusations by saying, Strauss-Kahn Banon intends to sue for "slander", adding that the alleged events were "imaginary" only.

France divided over how to accept the possibility of liberation Strauss-Kahn. As many as 42 percent of French people thought he had a political future, according to a poll published in Le Point on Monday, while 51 percent thought otherwise.

Strauss-Kahn's Socialist allies have begun an attack in the media who claim she has been the victim of an agenda. Some claimed that Strauss-Kahn is under threat of Vladimir Putin, Russian prime minister, shortly before the arrest. Other Socialist MPs questioned the role of security Sofitel Manhattan, a former senior policeman with links to French intelligence. They ask, why the hotel management called the office of President Nicolas Sarkozy an hour after the incident. Accor group, which had a Sofitel, strongly denied fraud and threatened to sue anyone who slanders convey.

While Koubbi insisted, there was no political motive in the lawsuit Banon agenda. "Let me make it clear that I was not contacted by anyone from the political Right, I'm not under orders from anyone," he said.

Kenneth Thompson, a lawyer for the hotel maid in New York, praised the decision Banon to file a lawsuit against Strauss-Kahn. "Yes, I support Tristane Banon," he said.
