The prisoners escaped from prison in the city of Al-Mukalla, capital of the province of Hadramawt, south Yemen, to paralyze the mountains after their guards and seized several weapons, security officials said yesterday.
Officials who are not willing to be named stated that before the prisoners escaped after a number of al-Qaeda militants stormed the heavily armed prison to free them. According to him, the prison was inhabited more than 100 al-Qaeda militants, 58 of whom were tried and sentenced.
But a spokesman for community organizations in Hadramawt, Nasser Bakazzuz, accusing the authorities to help these prisoners escape. ''Life's regime a few days and they wanted to create chaos in the Hadramawt. No Al-Qaeda attacks in the jail to free prisoners,''he explained.

Yemeni military clashed violently with Al-Qaeda militants in several parts of the Arab countries, which also faces a popular revolt against the 32-year rule of President Ali Abdullah Saleh. The talks will focus on the situation in Yemen and the issue of transition of power by the vice president, government sources said.
