First Gay Divorce Happens in Argentina

BUENOS AIRES - After same-sex marriage is recognized in Argentina over the past year, the first gay divorce is now happening in the South American country.

As reported by the Associated Press on Thursday (06/16/2011), the Federation of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transsexual Argentina said the divorce involves the female partner had just got married April 20.

According to the president of the federation Esteban Paulon, divorce is the first time since July 20 and Argentina became the first Latin American country to approve same-sex marriage.

Paulon said the divorce was caused by reason of infidelity. He called the name of the partner is a woman named Angela who was 46 years old and 25-year-old Vanesa. The two were married in the province of Rioja.
