Hosni Mubarak Starts August 3 Upcoming Trial

CAIRO - Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is scheduled to begin trial on 3 August. He is accused of conspiring in the deadly shooting of protesters and allegations of corruption.

Date of commencement of this trial suggest that Mubarak wants military officials while on trial before the parliamentary elections and presidential elections scheduled to take place this year.

The pro-democracy activists have been several times took to the streets to urge the interim leader to immediately prosecute Mubarak of Egypt as soon as possible. If convicted, Mubarak threatened the death penalty.
