King Abdullah II pelted Shoes


AMMAN - King Abdullah II of Jordan was greeted by throwing bottles and stones during a visit to Tafila, southern Jordan, on Monday (6/13/2011), according to Jordanian officials.

According to a security official, a group of youths threw several objects at the motorcade of King Abdullah II during a visit to Tafila, a city located about 200 kilometers from the capital Amman. The official who refused to name mentioned, said King Abdullah II was not hurt in the incident.

When confirmed, a government spokesman Taher Edwan denied this and called the news was "totally unfounded".

"There is absolutely no attack with empty bottles and stones," said Edwan.

"What happened was a group of young Jordanian King approached the convoy because he wanted to shake hands with the King," he explained.

He added that police "encourage them to stay away because they are crowded."

Court official who accompanied King Abdullah II during a visit that also gave similar testimony. "That form of welcome, not attacks."

Like other Arab countries, the Kingdom of Jordan is also facing demands for reform. Despite the demands of the change is hard enough, the condition is relatively much more calm.

On Sunday (12/06/2011), King Abdullah II meets the main demands of reform. In a televised address, he announced the next cabinet is formed by a majority of parliamentary election results. King Abdullah II suggests waiting implementation of relevant laws for the system.
