Shown for the first time at Silverstone last season, Lorenzo is really not overtaken. After taking pole in qualifying, the Spanish rider was well ahead of Andrea Dovizioso (Repsol Honda) and Ben Spies, who last season was still defending the Tech 3 Yamaha.
Lorenzo hopes to repeat such success last season. The victory at Silverstone will strengthen its position atop the standings Lorenzo MotoGP rider.
Lorenzo was still in the top of the standings after occupying the second position in the MotoGP Catalunya last week. Rider 24 years of this seven-point lead over Casey Stoner (Repsol Honda).
"We managed to end the race at home by leading the standings. I'm happy because we were very consistent at the beginning of this season. Now we'll do our second visit to Silverstone, a track that I like," Lorenzo said as quoted by the official MotoGP site.
"Last year was my first year, and I do one of the best races, almost perfect. I know this season will be more difficult, but Yamaha and I'm working hard and our focus into every series," said Lorenzo.
Hope the same is also expressed his teammate Lorenzo, Ben Spies, who returned to expect reaching the podium. Spies successfully seized the podium at Catalunya last week. Spies also successfully took the podium at Silverstone last season.
"I can not wait to go back to Silverstone. There I took the first podium in MotoGP. In Catalunya I feel the season back at the start, everything went smoothly and I felt comfortable," said Spies.
