Dalai Lama Sadness Over Death of Osama

Newark - The Dalai Lama said on Thursday, May 12, that he was saddened by the death of Osama bin Laden in the hands of U.S. troops (U.S.), which equal terms with hanging Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, in 2006.

"I feel this sad. I think it's wrong. It's like when Saddam Hussein gets hanged to death. I feel very sad, "said the Tibetan spiritual leader told AFP on Friday (13/05/2011).

Dalai Lama's comments were contrary to his comments last week in Long Angeles about Osama's death. At that time the Dalai Lama said the world's most wanted man is worthy of being shot dead.

After comments were scattered widely in the media, the Tibetan exile government issued a press release to clarify his statement. The release of the Dalai Lama stressed the need to distinguish between actions and actors. According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, in front of the visitors at the University of Northern California said the Dalai Lama, to forgive does not mean forgetting what happened.

"If there is something serious and needs to take action in return, you should do in retaliation," said the Dalai Lama was quoted as saying by the Los Angeles Times.

Dalai Lama, who fled Tibet in 1959 after a Tibetan uprising was thwarted by the Government of China, is conducting a tour of teaching in the United States.
