Silverchair Band Official Dismiss

Bad news for fans of Australian band, Silverchair. The band with the hits "Anthem for the Year 2000 'was decided to disband after nearly 20 years together. This decision was announced on their official website Chairpage.com, on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 local time.

In a joint statement on the site, Daniel Johns, Chris Joannou and Ben Gillies said the decision was not easy. So far they've tried to stay together.

"We formed Silverchair nearly 20 years ago when we were 12 years old. Today we stand with the same rules as before ... if the band is not fun and not creative anymore, then we need to stop," wrote a joint statement Silverchair personnel.

In 2009, Silverchair had entered the studio to record. At first all went well and the band even had time to do some shows in 2010. However, in the following months it became clear that each of Silverchair personnel moves in the opposite direction.

"Although we had done its best during the past year, it became clear that there was no spark between the three of us today," said Daniel, Chris, and Ben.

The statement also mentioned, Silverchair will not be making music or performing together in the near future. Yet they still will do anything else that inspires them is felt today. Ben for example, working on his own music in the studio. Chris is taking care of some business and work on musical performances. While Daniel was making movie soundtracks and worked for other musical projects.

In that statement they also said, "We understand some of you disappointed by this news. But we really see it as a positive step for us and freed today."
