Reduce consumption of fatty foods is more effective in preventing diabetes than weight loss. It is very important, especially for those who have a family history of diabetes.
A person diagnosed with diabetes when the body does not produce enough insulin or does not use insulin properly there. Insulin is a hormone secreted pancreas and necessary for converting food into energy.
In the research by a team from the University of Alabama, Birmingham, USA, is known, reducing fat intake in the diet for eight weeks effectively improve insulin sensitivity, glucose tolerance, and increase insulin release. In other words, this means reduced risk of diabetes.
"The important bottom line is to focus on food quality, not quantity, which gives different results to reduce the risk of type two diabetes," said Barbawa Gower, a nutritionist from the University of Alabama.
The result of his research also concluded, reducing fat intake to 27 percent of the daily diet can reduce the risk of diabetes in the long term. Restriction of fat to 27 percent and 55 percent carbohydrate by participants in this study, according to Gower, still relatively moderate.
