Libyan Refugees Threatened Drowning Death




Libya- Hundreds of people were feared to have drowned in the waters of Libya, after a ship carrying about 600 refugees reportedly shipwrecked on his way to Europe on Friday (6 / 5). The continuing turmoil in Libya allegedly has forced many residents to flee to Europe.

The UN refugee agency, UNHCR said 16 bodies, including two babies, have been found washed ashore. To help such ships carrying refugees, UNHCR has called on all ships that use the Mediterranean route willing to help.

This recall has many refugees from North Africa region who fled to the ships that sailed unfortunately not feasible. 600 freighter is any chance of Libyan immigrants adrift for more than two weeks.

British newspaper The Guardian said that 61 of the 72 people on board died of hunger or thirst, although NATO ships and helicopters to know the existence of the ship.


UNHCR said the migrants who arrived on the island of Lampedusa in Italy reported they saw a ship carrying about 600 people sank shortly after leaving the port of Tripoli on Friday.

It is unclear whether there are parties who are looking for people who lost, but Nato is not involved in the operation, he added. Wikes claimed not to know clearly what the nationality of the passenger ship, but many of those who waited in Lampedusa are the people of Somalia. "Hundreds of people have now died when following this dangerous journey," he said.
