Sexual Harassment, a priest in Chile Sentenced to 10 Years Prison

A priest in Chile, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for convicted sexual harassment, while another priest was arrested for similar charges.

Ricardo Munoz was sentenced to 10 years in prison by a court in Melipilla which is located 60 kilometers west of the capital of Chile, Santiago. The evidence at trial showed that Munoz, a local parish priest, sexually assaulted four children aged 16 and 17 years and paid them with money.

While Audin Araya allegedly sexually assaulted three children in a Catholic school in the city of Concepcion is located 500 kilometers south of Santiago.

Concepcion Court asked Araya was arrested on Friday (13 / 5) after hearing the charges of sexual violence against children aged 15 and 17 years that allegedly occurred in 2008 when Araya became rector of the Catholic school. Prosecutors say Carlos Palma Araya will undergo psychiatric tests.

Meanwhile, two influential figures in Chilean Fernando Kardina namely, one of the most influential priest in Chile and Sister Paula (Isabel Margarita Lagos), former superior of the Sisters of Ursuline, is being investigated over allegations of sexual harassment.

Karadina who is now 80 years old alleged to have committed sexual abuse over 20 years when he served in a parish in Santiago. Vatican earlier this year found him guilty of having committed sexual violence against children and punish him for prayer and penance for life. But Chile to reopen this case.
