British Troops Leave Iraq

BAGHDAD - Britain ended an eight-year military role in Iraq after the last troops left the port city of Umm Qasr on Sunday (05/22/2011).

Eighty-one Navy personnel (AL) gave England a maritime patrol duty in the Persian Gulf to the Iraqi Navy. This is the last mission after British troops left Basra in July 2009.

Brigadier General Max Marriner, commander of British forces in Iraq, said an increase in the level of security in Iraq. "Security is better, the consequences of economic and social development in thethe southern region of of Iraq for the better . Sois the life of the people , "saysMarriner .

Marriner stressed, the Iraqi Navy is ready to maintain the security of his country without the help of foreign troops.

However, England still leaves a number of defense officials at the embassy in Baghdad. Also about 44 military personnel who took part in military training mission in the Iraqi Military Academy.
