Wellington - A 91year grandfather from New Zealand no longer allowed to go out tonight for the fight against crime.
John Bray, a veteran of the war, was the man who deserves to combat crime in the town of Waipawa, North Island. Because the grandfather was formerly a member of the Long Range Desert Group, which is a reconnaissance unit in North Africa during World War II.
He was registered as a member of the community patrol, an organization that moves as the "eyes and ears" for police.
Duty members of this community are walking the streets at night, and report any suspicious activity.
Like the hero figures of Batman, he began his task with a colleague. But eventually he decided to work alone when his colleague, who seemed like Robin, aged 80 years was always asleep when on duty.
Bray is now no longer required to work alone and must find a partner if you still want to be a hero figure.
"I would like to continue, but now I have to look for colleagues," he said as reported by AFP on Monday (05/09/2011).
This old man also said that what he did often successful, although the weapon he had was a flashlight and a cell phone while driving through the night.
"Surely this is very successful. Provide information to police about everything," he concluded.
